However, as the expense of college has increased by 25% in recent years, many parents and students are questioning if a marketing degree is still worthwhile.

Will a four-year college degree provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in the digital marketing field?

In order to pursue my passion, I dropped out of college when I was 19 years old since I was uninspired and uninterested at the material I was learning in college at the time. I had no idea that the brand I started when I was 19 would go on to generate $5 million in sales and employ 100 people!

Is a marketing degree worth it in the 2022?

In the case of a young creative entrepreneur considering pursuing a marketing degree, ensure that they have first asked themselves the following critical questions:

1. Is marketing a viable option for a future career?

You will not, however, be able to start, run, and scale a million-dollar content firm with only a bachelor’s degree. There are extremely precise skills and methods that must be followed, and many instructors are completely unfamiliar with them. In higher education, there are some excellent digital marketing programs that are being taught. Although this is true, the expense can be exceedingly expensive — particularly when considering the poor curriculums.

  • How to increase your impact and earnings without being overburdened.

Employers are searching for marketing managers that are not just knowledgeable about what they do, but also know how to execute it effectively. According to my observations, a lack of procedural expertise is frequently the biggest impediment to you achieving success in your business’s marketing efforts.

3. Is marketing a profitable endeavor?

Is there a lot of money to be made in marketing? Is it possible for marketers to make millions?

That is dependent on the situation.

Do you wish to join a company’s marketing team and work your way up the ranks until you reach management? Do you want a 9-5 workday and a corporate culture that suits you? If you want to work for one of those companies, you’ll need a marketing degree, so get one if you want to follow that way.

But here’s the thing: there are wealthy marketers who are also successful marketers. However, if you look at the resumes of the most successful content marketers in the world, you’ll notice that they are marketing entrepreneurs who manage their own firms rather than workers.

When determining whether a marketing degree is worthwhile in the twenty-first century, it is critical to evaluate your long-term objectives. Do you want to develop a long-term online business for yourself or do you want to help someone else realize their dream? If you have large career objectives that can’t be restricted within a single cubicle, a marketing degree isn’t necessary for you to achieve them. You can look for a mentor, coaching, and a program to help you learn the processes required in establishing your own online content business from the ground up.

4. Is marketing a fun career?

Marketing may be a rewarding career, despite the fact that it is not always simple.

It is a creative field that draws a large number of inventive and talented individuals. Marketing can be powerful, beautiful, and engaging when done well.

Some marketers, on the other hand, will tell you that the day-to-day grind can be exhausting. The absence of effective processes may swiftly change a once-fun and exciting marketing career into one that is dreary and demanding.

Another reason why I believe it is a shame that more universities do not include content marketing systems in their curriculum is that they can help students succeed in their careers. Because owning and operating your own marketing firm that generates income while freeing up your time is tremendously enjoyable. That is something I can attest to from personal experience.
