Earth Day 2019 - April 22 Who says you can not change the world?

Earth Day is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of our impact on the Earth and share the beauty of this amazing planet with peoples.

Earth Day 2019

In 1970, Earth Day emerged as a spontaneous student movement in the US. Earth Day was to demonstrate to the Washington establishment and the public that there was an environmental movement in North America and that nature now has a strong lobby. Since then, April 22 has been the world's Earth Day. The popular action was justified by the socially engaged US senator Gaylord Nelson. In Canada, as in many other countries around the world, the Earth Day idea is intertwined with national environmental policy.

The 25th Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1995 as the environmental day of more than 200 million people worldwide. Today, Earth Day is celebrated in more than 150 countries around the world. The goal of this all-national campaign is to engage citizens, and especially young people, in a creative environmental project. To this day, the Earth Days have always remained neutral, providing assistance, networking, creating media presence for the many environmental initiatives in place.
On April 22, 1997, a local Earth Day was held for the first time, the Earth Day Stuttgart.

Earth Day as a podium and organizer: the actors are the people, associations, organizations, scientists, media who understand Earth Day as a stage for dialogue and all-round spirit of initiative, as a people's action for an ecologically shaped lifestyle and make their commitment public here. The program focuses on environmental education in schools, environmental action for the development of an ecological, sustainable lifestyle, and the organization of symposia on local and global environmental strategies.

The German Earth Day Movement is today summarized in a national committee eV as a non-profit environmental organization based in Frankfurt / Main. The Earth Day International German Committee eV was founded in 1994 and aims to sustainably expand and maximize Agenda 21, which was adopted at the Rio Earth Summit in Rio in 1992, and therefore calls on all citizens: "Do something for the earth, be environmentally friendly and demonstrate your concern on Earth Day. "

Think globally, act local - Earth Day is celebrated on 22 April in more than 150 countries worldwide every year.

Earth Day Year Motto 2019:
SOS (Save Our Species)
  • Save the Species
  • Species diversity begins with you
  • Protecting the earth's treasure chamber, supporting diversity
Earth Day 2019 launched the campaign "SOS (Save Our Species) - Save the Species" worldwide and also in Pakistan.
Species protection begins with you. It is important to protect the earth's treasury, and support diversity.
Here the Earth Day demands that in the 49th Earth Day year 2019 the protection of species will become a cross-curricular focus, especially in environmental education in schools.

The theme "Save the Species" of Earth Day 2019 emerged from the recognition that human activities are causing climate change and, most importantly, other harmful activities that contribute to species loss.

We have a duty to actively contribute to the environment. Non-sustainable intensive agriculture, mono culture, deforestation, deforestation of rain forest, loss of natural habitats, tourism, poaching, trade of animal trophies, land use through construction measures, pollution by traffic, natural consumption in industry, toxins from air and water and pesticides belong to the main causes. Conflict material is also provided by the eco-theme energy from biomass and land use.

"Every hour, three species die, more than 70 species a day, 27,000 a year, each an irreplaceable, centuries-old unique of life," said the US species scientist and Pulitzer Prize winner Edward O. Wilson already in 1979.

Studies show that species extinction is accelerating. The insect populations have decreased worldwide by more than 49 percent, 40 percent of the world's bird species are declining, wild bees lack the livelihoods in Pakistan and this list can be continued forever.

Many species will disappear before we get to know them in detail or the benefits they bring to our ecosystems and our planet.

"The good news is that we can save species if we all work together," explains Earth Day President Thomas Dannenmann. Threatened species can recover if we are a unified global movement of consumers, educators, students, politicians, scientists, and dedicated business leaders, and not only collectively demand immediate action, but do it ourselves.

Earth Day on April 22, 2019, is supposed to be a special campaign to protect our species.
  • It is about education and sensitization for the increasing extinction of thousands of species, as well as the causes and consequences of this phenomenon.
  • It needs important political victories that protect broad species groups as well as individual species and their habitats.
  • It is necessary to network, further build and activate the global movement with existing actors that embrace nature and its values.
  • Educate and raise awareness about the rate of acceleration of the extinction of millions of species and the causes and consequences of this phenomenon.
  • Achieve important political victories that protect large groups of species, as well as different species and their habitats.
  • Build and activate a global movement that embraces nature and its values.
  • Encourage individual actions, such as the adoption of the plant-based diet and stop the use of pesticides and herbicides.
